Gently reign-in the spirit

How to Engage the Spirit When the World Runs Amock

DEAR GODSCRIBE:

I was raised in an abusive household by a mother who probably wasn’t well. She often employed “gaslighting” as a means to hide her actions.

This experience with her has been a huge challenge to my well-being over the years. The world we live in seems to be mirroring my now deceased mother’s choices.

We are daily given cherry-picked, partial, and blatantly false information by those in charge, both with and without ill intent.

I’ve concluded that I can no longer trust ANY information unless I’m familiar with all aspects of it, both past and present.

But unfortunately, that choice leaves little to rely on as I move forward each day.

How do I find the trust that others seem to come by naturally?

DEAR MISTRUST:

Why do you think your mother’s abusive manner is related to your skepticism about the world of ‘too much misinformation’?

We think the link is related to your need to feel safe.

Safety is at the heart of all mistrust.

In other words, if you can’t trust the world around you to have your best interests at heart, then you can’t even trust your own heart.

Think about it for a minute.

  1. You’re in need of feeling safe.
  2. Your safety is at risk because of false information.
  3. You think the world has something you need. (i.e. security, precise information, walls sheltering you from despair, etc.)

So, does that sound familiar?

These three assertions represent your psyche, (of or relating to your psychology), and its loss of its original state, which comes from spirit.

Said another way, Spirit is not part of your world if the world makes you feel unsafe.

Spirit dwells beyond the condition of this world.

How Spirit Enters an Unsafe World:

  • If this world were to erupt in war, the Spirit would rush-in and save lives.
  • If it were to explode in devastation, the Spirit would rush-in to declutter the mess and rebuild the lives of the lost.
  • If the world were to become a directionless void, the Spirit would rush to guide a leader or a community to do good work.

You have not found your spirit because you think your mother crushed it. And you believe this crushed spirit is out of your control.

We say, balderdash to that!

Take back the reins of this runaway horse, and gently train it to stay under your guidance and care.

When You Feel Unsafe

Every time you feel unsafe your spirit takes off, thinking you are going to guide it off of a cliff.

Therefore, it’s time you take responsibility for every time you feel someone else, (the world, your mate, your mother), has left you feeling abandoned.

And find this spirit within to call upon for strength.

To endure your fears, you must call upon the fearless, and that my dear, is God’s endurance in your soul.
